Hoonicorn Stares Down the McLaren Senna in Fantasy Drag Race Come to Life

Does McLaren’s engineering marvel have a chance against Ken Block’s raging monster?

On one side you have a British supercar that was developed using state-of-the-art technology. On the other side, you have a heavily tuned ‘Stang that’s in this world to get thrown around in every direction imaginable as we cheer on its sheer power and ferocity. It’s not the kind of drag race you normally see, but, rest assured, it’s the kind of drag race you’d want to see. Well, here it is. It’s the Hoonicorn taking on the Senna in a straight-line race for the ages.

You Might Want to Think Twice About Putting Big Wheels On Your EV

You Might Want to Think Twice About Putting Big Wheels On Your EV

More specifically, range is going to take a hit

Since electric powertrains have started crawling inside our cars, manufacturers had to find ways to make said powertrains as efficient as possible. Aside from battery chemistry, size, and other such factors, an EV’s ability to travel more miles on a full charge is also an affair of aerodynamics and rolling resistance.

In the video below, Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained shows why big wheels impact an electric car’s driving range.

Here's Why the Ferrari F50 Is Better Than the F40

Here’s Why the Ferrari F50 Is Better Than the F40

This video proves that the Ferrari F50 doesn’t get the attention it deserves

The F50 is one of the greatest Ferraris ever built. Loved by purists for its naturally aspirated V-12 engine and F1-inspired technology, the F50 is already a full-fledged classic, despite being only 25 years old as of 2020. But the F50 has also been overshadowed by the F40, its spiritual predecessor. Tiff Needell thinks that is unfair and took a red F50 for a spin on the Scottish highlands to prove his point.

Is This REALLY The Fastest Nissan 350Z On The Planet?

Hard to tell, but it’s definitely one of the best-sounding 350Zs out there

We’ve seen our fair share of tuned Nissan 350Z over the sports car’s long career. Some are good examples of what a tweaked Z should be while other are festivals of tasteless work. Mountainpass Performance’s 350Z falls in the first category. Even more, it’s built with racing in mind (not street racing, though) and it even packs an electric motor.

Can the Chinese-Built Xpeng P7 Hold Its Own on American Soil?

The Xpeng P7 comes to the U.S. to take on the Tesla Model 3. Here’s what it can do

Spotting an electric car on a public road used to be a rare event a few years ago. As more and more automakers join the niche, this is no longer the case, because EVs are now more common and more affordable. And several carmakers are preparing their assault on the electric car market.

China’s Xpeng is one of them. Established only six years ago, Xpeng unveiled its second production model, the P7, in 2020 and it wants to sell it in the United States. The P7 was displayed at the New York Stock Exchange earlier this year and it was driven for the first time on U.S. soil.

A Ferrari F40 and a McLaren P1? You HAVE To See This Drag Race

Quite old meets not-so-new-anymore in top-shelf race off the line

The McLaren P1 could very well be the Naomi Campbell of supercars. With such sleek, perfectly rounded shapes, the spiritual successor of the F1 looks better today, six years from its inception, than pretty much ever new car we can think of.

The Ferrari F40, launched by Maranello to mark four decades in the business of making thrilling sports cars, was a declaration of turbo force as much as it was a design masterpiece.

And now, the two are locking horns in a drag race.

When a Bentley Continental GT and Porsche 911 GT3 Meet at the Dragstrip, Things Get Crazy

Can the Bentley Continental GT defeat a Porsche 911 GT3 at the drag strip?

What’s the difference between the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Bentley Continental GT? Well, the first one is track-oriented version of the 911, a car that you can drive on a daily basis, but also one that will shine on a race track. The Continental GT is a massive grand tourer, both luxurious and comfortable. Two entirely different cars, really. But do they have something in common? Technically speaking, they’re both grand tourers. And this is exactly why Carwow decided to see which one is faster in a straight line. Because why not!

Is the Mercedes-AMG GT53 Really Without a Soul?

Merc’s ’Fast Four’ is certainly impressive but charisma may not be its strongest asset, says Matt Farah

Mercedes-Benz was, arguably, the first premium brand to come up with the coupe-sedan niche when it introduced the first-generation CLS Class some 15 years ago and now you can get what is effectively an enlarged AMG-GT that follows the ethos of the CLS but is a lot more sporty. That’s a tasty proposition but how much of the Mercedes-AMG GT53 can you really fall in love with, beyond all the figures?

The Man Behind the Maserati MC12 Shares Thoughts On the New MC20

The Man Behind the Maserati MC12 Shares Thoughts On the New MC20

Turns out the MC20 lacks some drama and distinctiveness

The MC20 was trumpeted as a sort of a comeback for Maserati, further proof that the Italian carmaker is alive and kicking and not just churning out special editions for its aging lineup.

At the same time, the MC20 is the first supercar to come out of Modena since 2004’s MC12, which was based on the Ferrari Enzo. Maserati also likes to brag that the MC20 is 100-percent Maserati, yet Frank Stephenson believes it lacks personality, a paramount trait for a super sports car that’s also of Italian ilk.

Get Inside the Koenigsegg CCR - The Car That Humbled the Legendary McLaren F1

This Swedish supercar is finally getting the love and recognition it richly deserves

When talking about the greatest supercars of the last 30 years, most people identify models like the McLaren F1, Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, and Ferrari Enzo. These exotics deserve their roses, for sure, one supercar, in particular, that doesn’t get the love it deserves is the Koenigsegg CCR. It’s easy to see why. The CCR was in production for all of two years — 2004 to 2006 — and the Swedish automaker only made 14 units of the model. There aren’t a lot of them to begin with, and the units that are still around are usually tucked away in some billionaire’s garage, away from public view. Make no mistake, though. The Koenigsegg CCR was a record-breaking monster that took down the almighty F1 as the fastest production car in the world. If that’s part of your résumé, you deserve to be recognized for it, and while it might be a little too late for some, YouTube channel Mr. JWW is shining a well overdue spotlight on one of the century’s greatest supercars.

Does a Porsche 911 Turbo S Stand a Chance Against a 1000-Horsepower BMW M5?

This 1,000-horsepower BMW M5 runs the quarter-mile in just 10 seconds!

When it comes to performance cars, horsepower and torque are usually the only figures we take into account when comparing them. Is horsepower the decisive factor here? Let’s find out.

The 1935 Voisin C25 Aerodyne Is The Coolest Car You Probably Didn't Know About

The 1935 Voisin C25 Aerodyne Is The Coolest Car You Probably Didn’t Know About

The Voisin C25 Aerodyne is an aviation-inspired work of art!

The automotive industry had many ups and downs since the automobile became popular in the 1900s. The first major downturn happened in the late 1920s when The Great Depression hit the world. In the United States, the economic depression put many luxury carmakers out of business. In Europe, however, some low-output companies survived, although they eventually went bankrupt after World War II. One such carmaker is Voisin, which was founded by aviation pioneer Gabriel Voisin. This French company produced only a handful of automobiles in the 1920 and 1930s, with the most iconic being the C25 Aerodyne.

Can A Tuned, 490-HP BMW M240i Take On the Porsche 911CS and BMW M3?

BMW M240i proves that looks aren’t everything in a drag race

Sometimes, the best drag races are those that have some form of handicap. Take this race hosted by YouTube channel Track Day, for example. It’s a three-car throw down involving an F80-generation BMW M3 Competition, a 992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera S, and a BMW M240i. The latter is the obvious underdog in this race, but this isn’t your stock M240i that comes into the race with significant modifications, none more important than an engine upgrade that helps the turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine produce more output than both the M3 Competition and the 911 Carrera S. The scales tip differently now, do they? Does the modified M240i have what it takes to beat the M3 Competition and the 911 Carrera S? Let’s find out.

Watch a Ford Galaxie Kick Major Ass At 2020 Goodwood SpeedWeek

50-year old race car finally gets its just due

You don’t often see a 3,600-pound 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 participating in any kind of sanctioned race. Even rare is the sight of a Galaxie 500 destroying the competition in a sanctioned race at the 2020 Goodwood SpeedWeek. Driven by 2016 BTCC Championship runner-up Sam Tordoff, the mountain of a Ford tore through a field of classic race cars that included Lotus Cortinas and Mini Coopers as if those cars were battery-operated. It was an incredible display of nostalgic might for a car that, back in its time, was considered too fast for track racing and too heavy for drag racing. More than 50 years after it was launched, the Galaxie 500 finally had its day at the 2020 Goodwood SpeedWeek, and it was glorious to see.

This right here, ladies and gentlemen, is the GMC Syclone in all its glory

The GMC Syclone is undoubtedly one of the most bonkers cars ever built by GM. It could whoop a Ferrari’s ass in a straight-line race back in 1991 and just under 3,000 units were produced, all painted black - except for the Marlboro Editions, which were red and white.

In case the Syclone still has the power to unearth some nostalgia for you, here’s a video that will refresh your knowledge on the performance pickup truck.
